About

Jonathan (MPA) is a passionate educator and entrepreneur who combines his experience at summer camp and involvement with the startup Boulder based Renewable Choice Energy to influence his leadership as a nonprofit executive and Jewish professional. He was certified as a high school teacher, trained through Co-Active Training Institute as a professional and executive coach, Summa Cum Laude graduate from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and studied at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. In 2007, Jonathan continued his studies and was selected as a Taub Fellow at New York University in the dual-master’s degree program for a Master in Public Administration in Nonprofit Management and Master in Hebrew and Judaic Studies.

Since 2010, Jonathan has served as the Executive Director of the Boulder JCC, where he helped lead the community’s $30M capital campaign to build a new campus (which opened in 2016), developed the organization from a $1M to $7M annual operation, created a cadre of programs and ways that the Boulder JCC is integrated into the Boulder community, and continues to dream about its future.

He speaks both nationally and internationally about making philanthropy fun and the role that intergenerational giving has on creating a legacy.

Jonathan values his community and volunteers on the Board of Advisors for the Program in Jewish Studies at University of Colorado Boulder, the Board of Advisors for the Community Foundation Boulder County’s Wildfire Relief Fund, and as an advisor for JPro’s Well-Advise program and Board Member of JPro.

Jonathan was awarded the 2020 Boulder Chamber of Commerce’s Community Impact Award, selected as a 2019 Wexner Foundation – Wexner Field Fellow, and is a member of the Schusterman Foundation ROI Community.

Jonathan lives in Boulder, CO with his wife, Lyndsay, and children, Mira and Susanna, where he can be found hiking, skiing, practicing yoga, listening to music, and planning their next great adventure.

“I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can. I want to be thoroughly used up when I die, for the harder I work the more I live.”
